The Getaway Girl

While we're still working through the last bits of spring rain, I'm dreaming of summer. I can't wait until I can don my antique floral headscarf, push up my blue-hued sunglasses and smudge on the dark eyeliner. I imagine powder-soft sand on my feet, pop-pink on my toes, and the lazy smell of cocoa butter. Psychadelic kaftkans, abstract bangles stacked to the nine's, and striped
floppy sun hats shade my eyes as I peer across palm tree spotted beaches against azure blue water.

Hmm. But for now, I'll have to plan my vacation escape through the hue-tinted shades of Polyvore. As I stare at the rain spotting my diamond-paned french windows, I realize I still have a bit of time left to construct my perfect getaway scene...!

Collage-aholic

Collaging might be my most favorite thing ever. You start with one and build on the vibe that one image gives you, until you have a full poster-like board that communicates (hopefully) an idea, era, mood or otherwise. I've been doing this forever and until recently have I found a way to incorporate this into my work. Since then, a full collage-wall takes over the inside of Les Pommettes. We've had collage stickers, collage sign up books, collage background on our Twitter page, collage trimmed our website for a while.....and now we've added to this idea with Tumblr, Pinterest and Polyvore. Each gives you different things; Tumblr is mostly my inspiration "tear-sheet" wall, Pinterest translates my Tumblr inspiration to our in-store brands & merchandise, and Polyvore makes color/print story layouts. I love that these creative tools now help translate & communicate our vision for seasons, brands and collections. I hope you enjoy these "windows to my soul"! xoxo D.

Aahhhh.....Tata.

Tataborello. J'aime beaucoup! I may have been a little slow on the jump on this one, but wow, well worth the wait. Impeccably made, intricate, tiny, almost completely hidden craftsmanship details make me shake my head in bliss. Semi precious stones, silk thread weaving, antiqued rhinestones worked into unmistakenly feminine jewels that are not only gorgeous to wear, but awesomely thrilling to inspect. Every second and third glance makes you discover another part of these pieces and I for one, surely plan on saving some of these for me when they arrive. DS

Anton & Anetta

I always love it when a designer does something unexpected and when its hand-made, well, it just sort of sends me over the edge. This 'good wishes' card that landed in my in-box did just that.

Don't you always wonder where people get their inspiration from? Who feeds these creative geniuses? A little peek into Anton Heunis' world with this handmade collage from one of his longtime mentors, British born South African artist Anetta Westoby & her husband.

This super charming card is made up of various beads, buttons, paper collages & gemstones.

Their Saturday morning lessons on life & art have been shaping his creative development for years, and I for one, love having this little glimpse into his inspirational world.

C'est une bonne idea, Anton!!!

Welcome, Camilla & Marc!

I wanted to take a minute to welcome to our roster Camilla & Marc. I feel like most of our talent these days is coming up from down under, and this Spring 12 is no exception. Take the brother and sister team that make up this super hot brand. Sister Camilla is the design & PR arm and brother Marc steers the helm with his business smartness. Whatever the division, this duo packs a punch with its masterful use of powerful color and cleverly cut classic shapes. We never pass up an opportunity to mix color with feminine sophistication and thus, we welcome Camilla & Marc to our chic boutique - and can't wait to style our clients in this gorgeous collection!
