The Little City That Could

We've been on the bandwagon for years with the no fur/leather/suede thing, but was sooooo happy to see our little city get behind it - at least in part. Kudos to the City of West Hollywood! No doubt the New York Times is now helping to spread the word and we are happy our city's move is getting some national attention on animal rights issues! One tiny leap....hopefully the fashion industry will take notice and make some changes. It reminds me that I did an interview a few months back with a writer for WWD about the textile, fur and fashion industry and the article never saw the light of day. Because you'll never see that article, I was pining about the fact that there ARE viable options for fake fur or replacing the idea altogether - but its such a multi-faceted issue that the consumer is just as much responsible for the trade as the designers, textile mills and stores are - its just easier to blame the designer. We all need to do our part, as little as it may seem, to stop the cruelty for vanity's sake. And we're just tickled Les-Pommettes-pink that our little city was the first. Well, almost. After us. ;)
