Real Artists Pt. 1: Sarah Pavsner & Les Pommettes Boutique

To start off Spring, we'd like to welcome all of our friends to come enjoy a new ongoing project of ours where we will be highlighting local artists whose work coincides with the artful collections we are getting in from designers.

Right now we are inspired by prints and the chaos of Spring coming in to help stop our winter woes. We would like to introduce Sarah Pavsner, whose art inspired our store owner, Delia Seaman, to think busy! We love the rich colors Pavsner uses and her frenetic energy that reminds us of some of the pieces we've been getting in from one of our favorite up-and-coming designers, Margarita Saplala.

Back to the art:

Sarah Pavsner shares an insight to this installation with us here:

"There is a sensual meditation that occurs when I practice my art; which is steeped in the idea of pattern. It is through this exploration of pattern and shape that I conjure up concepts relating to humanity and nature.
The installation, for Les Pommettes Boutique, presents an idea of metamorphosis. This was done by literally enlarging my earlier piece entitled Chaos and Order. The physical act of increasing the scale and composition of the original piece transformed its aesthetics; metamorphosis."

Sarah Pavsner’s visual vocabulary is a derivative of her early exposures to Detroit’s vacant factories, and burnt down houses. Her aesthetic approach is juxtaposed with the eternal feelings of loss brought on by the death of her father at a young age. Presently she is enticed by creating pieces that explore pattern within the framework of nature, and humanity. Sarah also finds the use of material to be central to creating the symbolic framework of her pieces

Come see Pavsner's work for yourself as it hangs in our store fronts for the next couple of weeks. Get inspired and get dressed. This is just the start!
